Georgette "Gigi" Harris Phillips

July 29, 1944 - November 28, 2023

Georgette Phillips, 79, of Greenacres, Florida, cherished by all who were privileged to know her, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday, November 28, 2023, after a brief illness. At the time of her passing, she was in the loving arms of her partner Bill and daughters Michelle and Pamela.

Gigi was born on July 29, 1944, in Waterbury, CT, to Allen and Marjorie Cutler, and was sister to Miriam, Allen, and Deborah. She grew up in Connecticut and settled as an adult in Florida. Gigi was a graduate of Palm Beach Junior College, Florida Atlantic University, and Barry University. She was a master's level Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, who was beloved by every client she counseled. The wisdom she accumulated over a lifetime and shared with both her loved ones and clients was informed by her 43 years of recovery from alcoholism. It was Gigi's wish to live long enough to celebrate 50 years of sobriety, but sadly, it was not to be. Gigi considered her alcoholism a blessing, as the lessons of her recovery from that disease truly freed her to live her best and most authentic life. She was an avid seamstress and loved to craft. It gave her great joy to make personal items and share them with those she loved. With her beloved Bill, she enjoyed, in her later years, spending time at the beach and as a member of the Corvette Club of Palm Beach County, showing off Bill's corvette and her XLR at car shows throughout Florida. Gigi was also a fantastic cook and for her, food was a cure for all ills.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husbands Martin and Paul. She is survived by her partner William, daughters Michelle and Pamela, grandchildren Justin, Chloe, and Shayna, step-grandchild Emily, great-grandchild Carter, step-children Robert, Cindy, and Barton, first husband, Leonard, wife-in-law Sharon, children-in-law Stacy and Kimberly, sons-in-law Dirk, Wayne, and Rick, nephews and nieces Richard (Laurie), Glenn (Nancy), William, Brian (Angela), Kathleen, Candy, Robert (Rachel), and Rebecca, cousins, extended family, friends, clients, and fur babies Princess, Mister, and Billie.

Gigi's life will be celebrated by her family and friends on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Palms West Funeral Home. There will be a viewing from 1:00-3:00pm, followed by a service at 3:00pm officiated by Father Jack Barrow, which will be simulcast and recorded via Zoom for those who are unable to make the service in person.
Thanks to the countless people who supported and comforted Gigi throughout her lifetime. Those wishing to honor Gigi's memory may make donations to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League (https://www.peggyadams.org/) or the American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/).

"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference."
